So...Here is another. I am thinking of buying a set of Kinoptik primes. What do you all know about them.
I have used the 5.7mm but other than that I know very little. I am looking at a 9mm, 12.5mm, 18mm and 25mm. How do they compare to Cooke?? I know Zeiss well and I am looking for a lens with less contrast. Something like a Cooke or Angenieux.
I am also open to any suggestions as to who or where I can find some. Other than eBay.
Thanks

Nigel, I haven't used them, but I know Barry Green (BlackAngus on this board) has some experience with them.
You might drop him an email, he's very helpful and a great guy to buy stuff from, by the way!
They must be decent, because they always seem to attract lots of high bidders on ebay!
Post what you find out on this board.
I'm interested in them also.
By the way, I'm hunting for CP Ultra Prime lenses, if you know of any for sale, let me know.

I already know that Kinoptik are great lenses. But I am just wondering what others think.
Visual Products has a 9mm CP Ultra Prime--I don't know if it will cover S16.
Thanks for the info.

Hi Nigel,
Might I suggest emailing the makers of the new Ikonoshop Super16 camera in Sweden, as they have used the 9mm lens you mentioned on their first production camera. You can see the camera and get their email address at www.ikonoskop.com They are really friendly and helpful guys, and I believe they have a lot of experience with these lenses as they are buying them wholesale - (they may even be able to get you a discount on a set!)
Good luck,
Lucas

I went to their website. I am really glad that there are some people out ther trying to push forward with cameras.
However, I still think that their camera leaves a lot to be desired. With C-Mount lenses and non-reflex viewing I think that it is a 1950's era 16mm camera with a wider gate. They will have a long road ahead of them but they have the potential to do some cool things.
Thanks and Good Luck
